Description
This course aims to equip students with language learning strategies to take charge of their own language acquisition, and to prepare for study abroad experiences. Students will identify their learning styles, and will develop personal strategies for language learning beyond the classroom. In group and class discussions, students will repeat a cycle of setting goals, planning learning activities, and reflecting on the results. This will provide opportunities to express opinions and ideas with classmates in English. Projects will use the internet and other resources identified by the students and the instructor. Students will focus mostly on their reading and writing skills.

Lesson 1: Orientation, Self-assessment [before], learning style and language learning strategies inventory
Lesson 2: Introduction to the 5-steps Reflexive Cycle language learning activities and demonstration
Lesson 3: 5-steps Reflexive cycle 1 and planning
Lesson 4: Review activities
Lesson 5: 5-steps Reflexive cycle 2 and planning
Lesson 6: Review activities
Lesson 7: 5-steps Reflexive cycle 3 and planning
Lesson 8: Self-assessment [after] and presentation prep
Lesson 9 & 10: Mini presentations by students / reflection

Homework
It is important to complete assignments by the due dates. Each assignment will prepare students for the next activities in lessons.

No textbook is required for this course.

Grading
10% Attendance and class participation
90 % for assignments [50%  5-steps Reflexive cycle Worksheets (10 % each x 5) , 40%  Presentation and peer feedback
