Description
The main aim of this course is for students to develop their reading skills in order to understand both general and academic texts. Students will also increase their vocabulary levels, focusing on the most frequent 2000 words of English.

Class 2. Choosing a List, Making cards. Timed Readings.
Class 3. New Vocabulary in Reading. Reading Power 3, Unit 1
Class 4. Fiction & Non-Fiction. Reading Power 3, Part 1 Unit 2, Vocabulary Quiz 1(VQ1).
Class 5. Guessing Meaning from Context. Reading Power 3, Part 2, Unit 3. 
Class 6. Word Parts – Word Parts Level Test. (VQ2). 
Class 7. Affixes. Reading Power 3, Part 2 Unit 4. 
Class 8. Graded Reader Presentation write-up. (VQ3).
Class 9. Presentations and Scanning.
Class 10. Scanning/Previewing Reading Power 3, Part 3 Unit 1. (VQ4).
Class. 11. Collocations. Reading Power 3, Part 2 Unit 5.
Class 12. Making Inferences. Reading Power 3, Part 3 Unit 2. (VQ5).
Class 13. Making Inferences from Dialogues.
Class 14 Final Exam. (VQ6).

Homework
Students will be expected to study a minimum of fifteen self-selected words of vocabulary per week using the techniques discussed in class, which will be tested weekly. Regular review of lessons is strongly advised.
